Sustainable development is no longer a story about the future or a trend, but has become an existing story, taking place in every business in general, and the logistics industry in particular.
This is the opinion of Mr. Khuat Quang Hung, Director of External Affairs and Sustainable Development, Nestle Vietnam at session 2: Creating opportunities for Logistics to develop in the future, Logistics Conference 2023: “The Road Ahead” by Investment Newspaper organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Planning and Investment on the morning of October 5.
Specifically, according to Mr. Hung, sustainable development is an important highlight in business development in particular and the development of the Logistics industry in general.
As the world’s leading food corporation today, present in Vietnam since 1995, Néstle always sets sustainable development as a standard in its production, business, and supply chain connection activities.
In particular, this business has made many commitments at the global level on Net Zero, no products related to deforestation, promoting regenerative agriculture, water resource management, developing sustainable packaging, and promoting sustainable agriculture. circulatory system….
On the other hand, Néstle also sets the goal of sustainable human development through increasing job opportunities for the young generation, building a diverse working environment,…
Not only does Néstle implement sustainable development, it also contributes to spreading this spirit through regulations on sustainable development with all suppliers of this brand.
Accordingly, Néstle regulates sustainable development with suppliers based on four human pillars (working environment, respect for privacy, working time,…); Human health safety (environment, emergency preparedness plans, etc.); Environmental sustainability (system management, licensing, environmental data reporting, energy consumption needs, pollution reduction, etc.) and Corporate integrity (mechanisms for resolving complaints complaints, disputes, anti-bribery, intellectual property policies, etc.).
“Sustainable development is no longer a story about the future or a trend, but has become an existing story, taking place in every business in general, and the Logistics industry in particular,” Mr. Hung affirmed.
Citing evidence, Mr. Hung said that export markets such as the US and Europe have more and more strict regulations on sustainable development, forcing businesses to take action.
Even domestically, ministries, departments and branches have many regulations and documents on this issue. For example, in early 2022, the Government issued a decree on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the ozone layer. Most recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is also drafting documents and technical regulations on measurement, counting, mitigation appraisal and inventory of greenhouse gas emissions of the industry and trade sector. In this document, issues of the transportation and logistics industry are mentioned, especially related to gas and emissions inventories.
